Branding for Idlewild Homestead

Lifestyle Blog Branding for Idlewild Homestead

Lifestyle Blog Branding for Idlewild Homestead, a blog documenting a recently established in homestead in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The project is the brain child of Carole Mullen and tells the story of her journey setting up her homestead and living the good life.

Carole reached out to us to create lifestyle blog branding that would suit her rural ambitions for the project. She required something hand drawn, DIY and authentic to communicate the process.

Her goals on the homestead were to grow her own produce, renovate the property and live sustainably. Values we really resonate with and wanted to help support. The project objective is ‘to inspire people to keep growing through storytelling.’ This eventually lead to the tag line ‘keep growing’ which worked literally for the homestead’s produce and figuratively for personal development.

Idlewild Homestead’s ideal target audience is Women Ages 25 - 45 - Homesteaders, Home Gardeners, Herbalists and Farmers. Broadly speaking, anyone with an interest in sustainability and living off the fat of the land.

Carole and her audience’s design tastes are Mid Century-Modern, Minimal, Vintage, Classic.

Our objectives from the lifestyle blog branding were to establish Idlewild Homestead as a figurehead in the homestead scene, a source of inspiration on how to go your own way and do it yourself. The project deliverables included primary logo, secondary logos, icons, word marks and blog signature. The assets needed to work printed on physical items on the homestead such as signage and labels as well as digitally for the blog, website and social media.

With the objectives and design tastes in mind we wanted to create something really authentic and meaningful. We hand drew all elements of the branding including typography, icons and containers to give it a real DIY feel. The icons all represent different aspects of the homestead and New Mexico. The colour palette is inspired by the desert. These stylistic choices all work together to create an aesthetic that represents Carole, her homestead and allows her to document her journey through the blog.

Working with Paul was such an exceptional experience! The process was smooth and seamless and his aesthetic is exceptional! If you're looking for high-quality results delivered to you in a professional, expeditious, manner... look no further!
